On Thursday, 15 May 2025, the very first official Highbury Old Boys Cape Town Reunion was held on a perfect autumn evening at Constantia Uitsig Wine Estate, at the charming Nest Deli, owned by Keith and Joy Henderson, past staff members.

Auction of Painting of the Highbury Chapel

Highbury Old Boys connecting
Mr Dauncey – Guest of Honour
Guest of Honour, Mr Dauncey, captivated the room with his signature wit and well-loved puns, sharing tales from his time at Highbury – including the unforgettable night a dormitory caught fire and staff members had to house the boys in their own homes after helping to put out the flames. He left attendees with a message of reflection and encouragement, drawing a powerful analogy between the Highbury mosaic badge on the Memorial Hall and the broader Highbury community — reminding all present that each person represents a piece of something greater: a shared legacy that continues to grow.
The evening was filled with nostalgia as old friendships were rekindled and stories exchanged. Old Boys proudly wore their ties, and the atmosphere was rich with memories. A highlight of the evening was the spirited auction, assisted by Mr Henderson, of a beautiful painting of the Highbury chapel — won by Mr Rhys Dyer. A lucky raffle winner, Mrs Dawn Hutton, received a Highbury rugby ball and has exciting plans to have it signed by Bobby Skinstad, ready for the next reunion auction.
This event marks what we hope will be the beginning of a strong and thriving network of Highbury Old Boys in the Cape Town area.
